Double Award Win for MD at Yorkshire Leadership Awards
Green Building Renewables Managing Director, Chris Delaney, collected two prizes at the Business Desk Yorkshire Leadership Awards last week at a glittering event hosted at the Queens Hotel, Leeds.

Following three leadership nominations for Transformational Leader, Green Leader and Leader of a Business with 100+ employees, Chris Delaney, scooped two awards on the night including the Chris Delaney, managing director of renewable energy firm Green Building Renewables, was named Yorkshire and Humber’s Leader of the Year – the top prize of the night given to one leader from all the nominees in all fifteen categories.
Speaking on the win, Chris said, “I am delighted with the double win, however, it isn’t just for me, it’s a result for the whole team at Green Building Renewables. We have a fantastic, dedicated team and this award is for all of us. The business wouldn’t be where it is now without them.
“It was an honour to be nominated in three categories with such great nominees, as somebody very proud of his Yorkshire roots, it was great to see so many capable and inspiring leaders from across the region in one room.”
With over 15 years of experience in the renewables sector, he co-founded Go Eco Renewables with our Group Technical Director, John Gilham. Just over two years and a rebranding later, he has spearheaded our incredible business story. Growing the business from a turnover of £3m to over £40m with the ambition of being a £100m turnover business by 2025. From one office in York to 15 nationwide, Green Building Renewables is an SME story of success in the region.
Nearly 300 people gathered at the Queens Hotel, Leeds, to celebrate the region’s finest leaders. Guest speaker Kully Thiarai, creative director and chief executive of Leeds Year of Culture 2023, spoke of the value of culture to people’s wellbeing and creativity, calling it vital for any civilised society.
The judging panel for the awards included Karl Oxford of African and Caribbean Business Ventures, Bex Williams of Bradford 2025, Dan Fell of Doncaster Chamber, and 2019 winner Taryn Edge.

This isn’t the first award win for Green Building Renewables awards, at the end of last year we also won The Yorkshire Post Excellence in Business Awards for medium-size business of the year.
