Who is Chris Delaney?
Handpainted teddy bears from his children, photos of his Granddad, posters of his beloved Leeds United, and photos of renewable technologies, Chris Delaney’s office provides a window into the life of the man who leads Green Building Renewables. The important things hang alongside one another, painting a picture of the father, family man, and businessman behind our company.
Chris’s office is an excellent place to learn about him but a terrible place to find him. Often, he is on the office floor talking to staff, sharing a joke with colleagues, or deep in a meeting with his team discussing ways to drive the business on and succeed in Green Building Renewables’ mission to become the largest renewable energy installer in the UK by 2025.
Chris has over 15 years of experience in the renewable sector. Go Eco Renewables, which he co-founded with Group Technical Manager, John Gilham, was Green Building Renewables’s precursor and founding company; from its headquarters in Dunnington, York, Chris leads the company.
He was only 35 when he became Managing Director of Green Building Renewables; two years later, Chris has spearheaded an incredible business story. Growing the business from a turnover of £3m to over £40m with the ambition of being a £100m turnover business by 2025. From 18 staff to over 200. From one office in York to 14 nationwide.
At GBR, Chris is building something big. Something he believes can transform the lives, homes, and workplaces of people in the UK by helping them live more sustainably and lower their energy bills.
“We want to be the country’s biggest and best renewables business. Biggest in terms of coverage of the UK by 2025 and best customer service and place to work for our people,” says Chris in the company film.
